Nottingham nursing and dementia care home specialist, Church Farm Care, has been named an accredited Living Wage employer for a second year after boosting salaries above inflation.

The group increased salaries to 5% above the National Minimum Wage and to exceed NHS rates in recognition of its valued team.

Lucy Atkinson, director at Church Farm Care, said: “Our staff really do go above and beyond with the care and activities they provide to family members – we’re so grateful to everyone for all their work over a difficult few years for this sector. It was important that we prioritised offering the Living Wage in a sector where many homes are closing, or many professionals are changing career due to the pressure on living costs.

“We hope this gives our staff a helping hand, as well as attracting new members of staff such as, nurses, carers, and specialists to come and join our amazing team.”

In addition to increasing the wage packet of employees, Church Farm Care is also investing in each home with redevelopment plans, including its new Socius hub, with dementia friendly cinema and luxurious suites at Rusticus, and extensions and luxury refurbishment at its Skylarks home.

Church Farm Care is also introducing cutting edge medical technology that makes the digital personal care plans and electronic medicines management of each family member available and simple to update.

Olawale Sanni, care assistant at Church Farm at Cotgrave, said: “It was such a kind gesture for Church Farm Care to become a Living Wage employer. Despite the job being challenging at times, Church Farm Care is so caring and supportive of its staff, and this makes me love my job even more. I’d like to say on behalf of everyone, thank you for the pay increase alongside the continuous support provided.”
